Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi Gizmo,
I seem to be able to edit my post as long as it is the last post in the thread. Once somebody replied I no longer can edit my previous post - is that correct?

So there are now three schematics, each updated from the last, in my "building an inverter from scratch" post. It would be nice to be able to just edit the original schematic to avoid any confusions.

Thats correct, until someone has replied to your post, you can edit it as much as you like.

The reason is simple, take this example with a conversation between Fred and Bill.

Fred: "The Earth is flat"

Bill: "Dont be ridiculous! Your talking rubbish."

Fred edits his post to say "The Earth is a sphere."

Suddenly Bill looks like a idiot, when it was Fred who was wrong. This happens a lot on forums that let you edit old posts.

The only problem is occasionally one person could be relying to a post while the other person is editing it, the forum wont lock out replies while in edit mode.

As admin I can edit any post, but unless its a life or death matter or a breach of forum rules, I generally wont sorry. It just creates too much work and once you do it for one, others want their old posts edited as well.

Thanks Glenn, fair enough reason.
