Hi, I hate to talk politics amongst friends, but an old article in, dare I say, the more right-wing "The Australian" seems to shine a light on this issue: "The provider of funds for most of the wind farms is a union-controlled super fund, which receives a subsidy of $500,000 per mill." Have forgotten the name of the company or super fund, but I hope the journalist of that paper got his facts right. So the present statements of Abbott/Hockey re "ugliness" has absolutely nothing to do with the issue, a perceived financial assistance to the Labor party seems to be the real key issue. I know talking politics in polite Anglo-Saxon society is not on due to the blood that has been shed in Britain for political/religious reasons, but as I was born on the continent, I ask for an exemption! The farmers certainly like the money they receive every year for placing the mills on their land and as long as they live far away from the possible health problems from the infra sound, they laugh all the way to the bank. Taxation as a means of achieving prosperity is like a man standing inside a bucket trying to lift himself up. Winston Churchill |

Sorry, I wont let this be discussed on this forum. I've made a comment on it in Site News under Ramblings, but that's as far as I will allow. I'm afraid my disgust for this current government will affect my better judgement and I'll happily remove any forum member who speaks favorably of Mr Abbot and his views of the world. So best left alone. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |
