Is there close related substitute item for IRF9Z34 Mosfet, or this is the only thing to be installed here?

I found this item:

IRF9Z34N IRF9Z34NPBF 9Z34N MOSFET P-CH 55V 19A

Are those extra letters a worry, or this is what I need?

Letters in question: N , NPBF , Or if it is without IRF ?

Hi George

Looks like it is a P channel

Data sheets both appear to be the same component, just different makers.

the additional letters on the end often refer to small differences in the capability, or package of the component. Just check the datasheet, which will normally specify what they mean.

I have to get two more components.

In a meantime got "battery rejuvenator" as present, so cannot complain.

It is connected to batteries during day when solar panels produce power and when I don't charge anything as spikes could damage charged items.

It stops working when batteries drop below 12.6V, but I try to have batteries above 13V when Sun goes down.
Overnight voltage drops to 12.8V

All good !!

Hi George,

Have you got them going yet?

Mine are still singing away.

When I find my camera I will post an update on VK4bob's desulfator topic.

Hi Rustyrod,

Sorry to say that I still did not collect all the items.
Returned thoroid to JayCar and didn't order replacement yet.

Need Mosfet to order too.

In a meantime I use this "Battery Rejuvenator" from time to time.

Also now I have in total 3 12V batteries in parallel and with the last addition all batteries have almost 13.1V in the morning.

From time to time I let them get up to 15.5V for a while, as if it is any higher I can hear my AGM starting to gas.

Before I charge phone or tablet I let the voltage drop to less than 13.5V as I am not sure if USB charger can handle too high voltage on the intake side.

I can get some Resistors 0.25W

Are they acceptable for this project, or they must be at least 0.5W or higher?

I used .25w on R 1 - 2
then .5w for R 3 - 4.
but use the .25w and see how it goes.

But then on another unit I have some resistors that were salvaged and are 3.5/4mm long and 1.5/2mm thick, they are quite happy. Are they 1/8 watt?

As you say Rustyrod I can try and see.

I even thought to put two 0.25W resistors parallel, to my thinking they will let 0.25W each, so in total they will at handle 0.5W.

Problem is if Ohms' Law agrees with it too?

Mosfet should be IRF9Z34

I see that there are some: IRF9Z34N or IRF9Z34NPBF
Are those OK too, or it has to be specifically IRF9Z34 ?

Yes ohm will agree, two in parallel will double the watts BUT halve the ohms

two (say) 1 k in parallel will give you 500 ohms.

therefor to get back to 1K you will need two 2K resistors.

PS. no two resistors will be EXACTLY the same unless you get 1% tolerance and spend 1/2 a day measuring them. Then if the temperature changed, you can start again.

10% resistors are "good enough" for this project.

Bit slow getting parts.

Two more parts and I'll be able to start making it.
