Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi folks.

I have been trying to get a result from another forum on this, so here is the quote:

I am just trying to build some comparisons between Linux file-systems and Windows.

All Windows systems these days use NTFS.

Linux can use just about anything you like, but for the purposes of this thread, lets take the likes of ext3 or ext4.

Many Linux forums around the world will claim that the Linux file-system is better then the Windows file-system, so can someone actually give me some general advise here?

IS the Linux file-system better in terms of reliability etc, then the NTFS Windows file-system?

What are the pros and cons of both?

What I am really trying to establish, is that if UNDER FAILURE, NTFS or ext3/ext4 would be better. As I mention above, Linux people will tell you that ext3 or ext4 is a better filesystem etc - WHY.

I would LOVE any input at all from those in the know on this subject.

Thanks.
