Perth's hydrogen buses have been taken out of circulation as they are too expensive.

Germany may or may not produce hydrogen with the surplus wind/PV energy and feed it into the established gas grid.

"Who killed the electric car?" indicated that Bush muddied the waters by suggesting a US hydrogen economy but because it is made out of hydrocarbons it never took off as it is considered to be too expensive.
