Wind Turbine braking- On 3phase side use a 10 amp (or lower if you can get) 3phase circuit breaker, if will trip and put your turbine back under load(battery charging) before the current harms your windings.

Norcold,

That sounds like a dangerous method to me, as you dump should be your controlling factor not your battery.
The thing saving your mill from a runaway should be your dump load and under no circumstances should you be unloading the mill to the battery because the dump current went up.

Sorry to say i think its a "Bad tip"

This would be better placed in the "Windmill" section and open for debate, rather than as a general tip.

To clarify talking about 500 watt turbines, drop in the ocean into 1000a/hr batteries in my case and I suspect in most 4m members case. With two of them at full output would hardly run the fridges. Works for me, has done for years. Sorry Downwind I`ll have to agree to disagree with you here. K.I.S.S

Norcold,

Lets just say its a method that suits your application and no what i would consider sound advice for a general windmill application on a broader scale.

I dont wish to discuss it further in this thread as a general tip because there is dedicated areas on this forum for such topics.
