Found few times that placing Ni-Mh or Ni-Cad battery in a freezer overnight as part of revival process

If you have any NiCd or NiMH batteries that won’t hold their charge, you can often revive them. Revive Rechargeable Batteries by using following methods.
1. Use up the power of the battery as much as possible.
2. Put them in a plastic bag and seal it.
3. Place the bag in the freezer for at least 24 hours. Overnight is sometimes enough.
4. Take the bag out of the freezer and leave the batteries to return to room temperature. Do wipe of the condensed water of the batteries before using them. Leave them sun for a few hours to dry.
5. Fully charge the battery, then use them again, get the power as low as you can get it. Repeat this charge-discharge cycle a few times, and see if you get a longer life.

Almost verbatim of the one above:

Battery Revival:
If you have any NiCd or NiMH batteries that won’t hold their charge, you can often revive them. This is not a new concept, but here is my recipe for reviving rechargeable batteries:
6. Discharge the battery as much as you can.
7. Place in a sealed plastic bag.
8. Place the bag in your freezer for at least 24hours. Overnight is sometimes enough, but I leave it about a week.
9. Take the bag out of the freezer and leave the battery to return to room temperature. Make sure you wipe off any condensation from the battery contacts before you use it. I just leave them in the sun for a few hours.
10. Fully charge the battery, then run it down again, as low as you can get it. Repeat this charge-discharge cycle a few times, and see if you get a longer life.

I heard that Ni-Mh does not suffer from memory effect and this site says it too.

Having said all that, is there a way to extend life of Ni-Mh battery?
