Noting special really, but still little success. Got Panasonic shaver and after 10 years of happy usage, batteries could be loaded for 24 hours only to give up after 10 seconds of shaving. (At the beginning could shave for 3 weeks before re-charge) Got another shaver, so gave up on this one as replacement battery was high and E-Bay had no return policy so smelled some trouble. (To buy this shape battery, more than $20 each now) Panasonic does not produce shavers anymore, this one has 12 years now, so suspect spare batteries were not produced either and will be “new old”. What surprised me that battery showed 1.24V not being charged for 2 years. Making long story short I used rechargeable batteries (long shelf life ones), shaved internal plastic guide a bit as rechargeable batteries were bit thicker. Rolled up metal wire to make up the distance to make contact. Charged up on original inductive charger and it appears to work well.

Good work Georgen. I'm like that, I would prefer to fix what I have before I buy a new one. So much is thrown away today that, with a few tools and brains, could easily be fixed. 10 years from a set of rechargable batteries is pretty good, Panasonic make good stuff! I bought a HP calculator, the red LED type! in the seventies and still have it working. They came with a sealed rechargeable battery pack which gave up after a few years. Replacements were still available back then but expensive and me being Mr. Fixit I opened the battery case and found two NICad batteries inside that were almost exactly the size of AA batteries, A slight modification to the case made it accept the standard 1.5V AA batteries and I have been using these ever since. The calculator is used only occasionally in the shed so the batteries last about as long as their shelf life. Klaus |

Glad my “ effort “ wasn’t frowned upon I’ll tell you about few more battery stories. Driven by high battery charges or pure waste, like in case of timer that always has display on I also adapted few things: Alarm clock with rechargeable batteries and external battery holder, 
For calculator I used AG12 instead of AG11 (AG12 are bit thicker, but instead of $5 dollars for 3 batteries I got whole card with batteries for $1.50 – it was 2 or 3 years ago and now the same card costs 3 dollars) 
To close battery plate I had to put cut piece of plastic that was just about right for the job. And in timer I installed switch, bit clumsy job as housing does not close and there is gap, but I can turn screen on just before I want to use it.
