enough is enough!

Lets just say I've moved on from my last employere and if anyone asks it was a mutually beneficial separation.

So taking the little one (Lucy) on a road trip to Melbourne. after all i've got all that fancy camping kit and I did something similar 18months ago with the older one SOphie.

Will be a quick trip over 3-4 days weather / road conditions / the plod permitting.
have a week to ten days in Melbourne then setting off on the enjoyable part of the trip. Will share it with my dad, we'll stop at some of the most beautiful places in the world, drink beer and wine. Eat olives cheese crackers, a few lumps of kangaroo steak, bacon and eggs on the great southern ocean for good measure.

Expecting the return trip to take 14 days or so, hence all up pushing a month away.
Cant wait -another great adventure.

Yeah, done lots of driving across Australia, I must say I do enjoy it very much.

Havent done the Nullabor ...yet!

Always pack a roll of 100mph tape and ALWAYS have everything in the car tied down, at least that way you have no fear of breaking anything in the car when you slam on the brakes.

I also found 80KM/hr you can stop (on the highway) for anything that jumps out in the dark, at 100Km/hr you almost always hit it, hence doing 130Km/hr in the dark isnt particularly wise, I guess people learn after they do the damage.

I've never hit a kangaroo but one has hit me -i'd come to a complete stop and he jumped into the front of the car three times before bounding off into the dark.
once more and I probably would have shot it and it was becoming increasingly more distressed and disoriented.

Hope you have fun Karl. Nothing like a long drive across the country.

A couple of weeks ago I drove a renta truck from Mackay to Toowoomba, and took an inland route, west of Rockhampton. Its very open and flat out there, mile after mile, and I loved the drive, it felt so good to get out onto the open road. You could drive for an hour and not see another vehicle.

I hope one day to drive around the country. I've driven as far as Portland in Vic, but I really want to head west to Perth, then up the west coast, across the top, and back down through the center to see the big rock.

I'm back, trip was great some ripper wind farms in SA of 35 odd 2MW size turbines in the middle of no-where. Great stuff!

Got a new Job with Apolloenergy / Energy matters.

Cant wait to start in a couple of weeks, back to Melbourne for a few days in training.
then heading up the WA operation.

When you do the trip north of Perth you really should take the new Indian Ocean road from Perth to Dongara & give yourself a couple of days to do the 400K the ocean views & fishing are just spectacular, not your Great Ocean Road type just a little more countryfied & mostly untouched "So far".

Cheers

I need to learn from the mistakes of others.
I dont have the time to make them all myself.
