Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Copy Machine Alert!

How many of us are aware that whenever we make a copy on a digital copier at the library or at the grocery store, the image is stored on a hard drive?

Here's a Scary Link that everyone needs to watch!

The world's shrinking, mates!

Hi Mack

This has been used for a number of years in industrial espionage and law enforcement as a primer, anything connected to a out line is hackable and those that aren't have links radio or inductive added to remote read the HD, about as secure as a mobile phone.

All the best

I wasn't so worried about "Big Brother" as I was concerned about the fact that these machines are leased to places, then removed and sold.

In my country (USA) many people do their own income tax preparation and use public photo-copying machines to make several copies. All their personal information is printed on the forms they're copying and if the machine is bought by someone, who's purpose is "Identity Theft", a $350 used copy machine with a hard-drive memory full of thousands of pages of personal data is a veritable "Gold Mine"!

Hi Mack

I see what you mean as this Identity theft is coming a big business, but there are other easier ways to do it without buying old copy machines.

All the best
