This arived in my email box, might be of interest to others. "Have your say on the Renewable Energy Target (RET) The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Renewable Energy Sub-Group is conducting a review of specific issues associated with the recently expanded Renewable Energy Target (RET). Specifically, the COAG Sub-Group is keen to consider: The treatment of heat pump technology under the existing RET and whether the calculation of RECs associated with system size and output are appropriate. Whether the RET should incentivise other small scale grid connected renewable technologies. What the replacement program for the former off-grid Remote Renewable Power Generation Program (RRPGP) should be. Whether the exemption provisions for on-site self-generation under the RET are appropriate. Items 1, 2 and 3 above will likely be of significant importance to ATA members. As such, ATA will be making a submission to the review. One of the key issues for this review from a broader policy perspective will be the current impact of small-scale, demand-side technologies on the available supply of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in the expanded market, taking into account REC price and the ability of the RET to drive additional investment in larger scale generation. We would encourage any members who have an interest in small-scale renewable generation or the off-grid renewable energy market to make a submission to the review. The Sub-Group is particularly keen to hear from people who can provide specific information and data on technology performance, cost and short and long term benefits. Submissions are due this Friday, 30th October, with the relevant papers are available at: http://www.climatechange.gov.au/en/submissions/renewable-ene rgy-target/coag-ret-target.aspx " Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. Typical government tactics. Post the information so close to the closing time that no one has a chance to repond. The only reponses that they get are the ones they wanted. Looks above board but the reality is not. Used to work for a government department and this is the method they used when they only wanted a certain result, be it a contractor to win a contract or a certain person the get the job, or a survey to prove their point. |
