Hi Guys Looking for some business advise on a couple of things, interested in your opinions. First up, my real job involves developing a software package called JAQ. Its a workshop management system, web based, and can create PDF's for invoices, purchase orders, quotes, and customer order confirmations. These PDF's are then sent to the customer or supplier. Now I want to promote JAQ, and was thinking about including something like "Invoice by JAQ ( www.jaqsoftware.com.au )" in small text at the bottom of the Invoice PDF page, or "Quotation by JAQ..." etc. Would this be acceptable, or is it crossing a line? I've already spoken to a couple of clients and they said they wouldn't mind at all, but I'm still not convinced this is ok. Second question, I'm looking for a cheap tablet for a workshop environment. It needs to run a web browser, can use a stylus, and wifi. Camera would be nice but not required. Could be Windows or Android or Linux or whatever, provided the browser is html5 compliant. This could be something bought directly from China. It will get dropped, driven over by a forklift, cut in half by a plasma cutter, so it needs to be cheap. Any suggestions? Thanks Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Glenn If you look carefully, almost all web sites have an attribution at the bottom of the Home or About page. Some have it on every page. Here is an example:
Powered by Web Wiz Forums version 7.8 Copyright ©2001-2004 Web Wiz Guide
Look around, I'm sure you'll get some ideas. If you have a Terms and Conditions for doing business with you then just add a new term that says you can do this. You have already surveyed some clients and got the OK. Go for it. |

As far as the tablet goes, if it works now, the next update might stuff things up so it is difficult to know which platform has the longest lifetime. You can test the various ones with https://html5test.com My old Android tablet gave good results with Chrome but it depends on which elements of HTML5 you are likely to use. Promoting your name on customer invoices etc. I usually think that it looks like the user of your software is using the "free" or "cheap" version. Just like my help file for MMEdit - I'm too tight to pay for the full version so I put up with the advertising. It is however a very common method of promoting. Jim VK7JH MMedit  MMBasic Help |
