hi all
doing a small lights/fan solar system using one 100w solar panel and three 12aH batteries in cebu philippines, what i need to know before mounting the panel on the roof is whats the best angle for the panel and face true north or south?or buy another panel and make a virtual tracker like i have in aussie on my farm which panels facing east and west.

Ideal angle would be 10 degrees and facing south, but if they are flat it would work just as well, need more cleaning.Edited by Madness 2016-06-07

Good point about the cleaning Madness. I was going to say lay them flat, but didn't think of the water and dust that would sit on the panel. So close to the equator the power difference between 10 degrees and flat would be tiny, but a layer of scum on a flat panel would certainly loose a few watts.

ok thanks for the replies,ill mount the panel on the edge of the roof for ease of cleaning which would be only in the dry season.lighting is all led [1x12w,2x2.5w,1x3.2w]which will rarely be on all at once and two 4.5w 6 inch car fans so the 100w panel should keep up with that lot most days accept when theres tripple cloud cover/raining then back to lighting only. the system will also charge a mobil phone when needed

I know from experience, the flat ones collect a lot more crud. I have 16 panels laying flat on a carport roof. It is a temporary set up, there is 2.8 KW of panels. They made 10 KWH's today which is handy as it is the first sunny day in a week and my batteries where getting down. I have 4.5 KW of PV's mounted at 27 degrees (my latitude) and they made 16.9 KWH today. I don't normally see what they could make in a day as my system normally goes into float by 1:30. They are different brand panels but there is not a huge difference in output when you factor in the watts per array.
