Hi, I recently acquired from a friend a suntech 175watt solar panel that was dropped but working, the only thing is that the glass shattered, is there a way to seal that glass or replace it? |

My suggestion would be to buy a sheet of glass that fits over the old, inside the edge. Leave the broken panel in the sun for a few hours to get any moisture out of the cracks, then put a few blobs of clear neutral cure silicon evenly over the panel, place the new glass on top and let it cure for a few days so the gasses can vent, then seal the glass edge with more silicon. That way you get the strength back and keep moisture out. Moisture is the killer. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

got 2nd hand "unbroken" `180W panels at most Solargain branches across Australia typically ~$80 a pop. Malaga (the biggest branch) has half a dozen Kyocera 48cell modules (185W) at just a carton of beer a pop. (minor delaminations of the backsheets) still working AOK. Sunpower 210's at $150 each SANYO 205's at $140 each both AWESOME panels (up there with new tech) K Luck favours the well prepared |
