Well the install by AEG is finished..
And the power meter really IS running backwards.
I always thought that was just a figure of speech!
Silly me.

Thats great Maddy ...

I've had a 1050 watt solar /6 panel system on my roof for 5 years now ---just so excited about it ,, gives me average of $26 per 90 day billing period ,,WOW.

But---,,I must say ,I did only pay $355 for it after the lovely Govt came to the party.

You never told us what yours cost or what it's capacity was ---

Bye the way ,,, solar hot water (which i have not) IS FAR MORE EFFICIENT .

Hi Bruce.
I am not exactly sure what it cost. Mrs Muddy did all that stuff and she's away up on Thursday Island for another 5 weeks (working).
But from memory it was around $10k, for 12 panel 3kW setup.
On the never never at about $150 a month. That figure should be covered by what we won't be paying AGL.
If it's anywhere as good as AEG say, we calculate our system will pay for itself in 3 years, then assuming it doesn't blow up as soon as it's paid for, we should be in front after that.
Very pleasant bunch of young blokes did the install in about 3 1/2 hours.
They reminded me of the years I spent on the tools in similar industry.
Was great to see young blokes doing their jobs and having a bit of fun along the way.

Well, all the lights and TV still work, so all good, so far.

We will be looking at hot water in the future as well.

Other things as well, like when we replace all the busted (by the tenants) light fittings, we will be fitting LED globes.
Getting rid of about 1000W of incandescants and fitting 150W worth of LEDs. That should cut down consumption a bit when the sun goes out.

might pay to check that the numbers are running backwards too. sometimes they don't.

If its a while before the new meter goes in, you don't want to be paying them for the power you generate and pump back to the grid.

Barring any shading issues you should be able to pencil in between 12 - 14 Kwh/day average for a full year and 24 Kwh on the best days.
I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...
