Hi Everyone,

I want to know if you think these diodes would be any good (Schottky SR5100) compared to (R-6 1000V 1000Voltage 6A)

datasheet and Ebay Find.

Ebay Link to 5100 Diode

PDF Datasheet

Cheers,
Shaun

EDIT:

Sorry, My array is no more then 3x 22v panels.. (66v-80v)

Hi Shaun

How are you going to use the diodes, as blocking diodes in the array, or elsewhere?
Schottky diodes are fast switching, so work well in switchmode power supplies, etc. For a solar array, a regualr diode will work, but it depends on hows its wired, across the cell or in series.

it will not be required in series because my controllers have built in diodes, perhaps I will,

But I plan to use for shade protection / hotspot protection

basicly 1 Diode in parallel with POS/NEG for each diode

so you think the normal 6A 1000v diode is best, I think I will go that route, as it noticed I wouldnt save too much voltage for the schottky

cheers,

Hi Shaun

The 1000volt rating is a bit overkill, since it will only see a few volts, but if you can get them cheap enough then go for it. The high voltage diodes are usually a bit more robust anyay.
