EVA ethyl Vinyl acetate My2c -dont bother EM sell 190W solarfuns for ~$500 a panel by the time you buy all the bits you will need you will have spent close to that anyway and the results are usually poor. Luck favours the well prepared |

I have had a look on the web, it seems there is a variety of grades, thicknesses and surface patterning of solar EVA available. And not much detail to explain the difference. I see there is a slow melt and fast melt version ??? Its an amazing result that he got with a gloss surface on both sides and no pre-warming to reduce the stiffness of the acetate. I expected his first panel to be full of air bubbles and all the cells smashed from pulling a vacuum while its really cold and stiff. I think EVA with a stippled surface against the cells and the gloss facing the glass would work well. It would leave lots of paths for the air molecules to be easily sucked out between the acetate and the cells. That heater is pure genius!!! I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not... |

Hi Yahoo2 I think I will play with an old vacuum cleaner as it would be more gentle on the cells than a fridge vacuum pump, I have tried them on glass fiber baging and they work ok for that. I think with all the connecting tapes and cell thickness that the air entrapped would be a minor issue as long as the preheat is done slowly. All the best Bob Foolin Around |
