Victron Multiplus Inverter repair: "low battery"
Hello again, Nick here,
Have 2 older Victron Multiplus inverters, 12V/2500VA inverter chargers. Initially bought to parallel them. Never was able to (the docs wrt jumper config was wrong, gave up).
So, ok, I have redundancy. The first inverter stopped working after a couple of years, with a low battery led blinking. Swapped over to the second inverter, and all was good, until recently, where I cooked it during battery maintenance (forgot I left array connected, and it smoked, still beating my self for doing this). A couple of caps at least, blew in the output stage.
Main Question is: In general, is a "low battery" function implemented? What can I check for this? Inverter has 3 boards.
The control/logic board has the eeprom with firmware, led indicators and a couple of discrete components that I should be able to check.
The intermediate board has the battery lugs, big dc busbars, fuse, circuit breaker, relays etc, and the 8 pin ic dc-dc? I'll get the ic type later.
The output board with the mosfets and drivers is sandwiched between the 2 toroids and I'd prefer to check that last.
Note: After cooking the second inverter, I swapped the control board the low bat inverter and still got low batt, possibly implying it's not the control board.
Swapped the intermediate board and all leds started blinking :-(
have stopped here,
Victron Greece say buy a new inverter. Victron Netherlands say we only sell, talk to a distributor.
regards, Nick PS I wish I knew about your Ozverters, Warpverters etc, 6 months ago. |
