Some time back, I scrounged a couple packages of 1and1.5Kw panels .

Anyhow ,I,be installed them where my grape vine used to grow. Sort of decided to remove it because of the sh*tte and snakes that birds and pythons used to congregate there during the fruit season.

It,s a strong flat frame, all hardwood and bolted ,we get up to 100 kms plus winds here .

I run galvanised top hat purlins the length ,some 7 mtrs. And secured them with gal coach bolts ,they are around 75 mm high.

I had help in erecting them and mounted them with rubber washers, stainless steel washers and 80 mm tube stand offs on the top side for elevation ,rain run off.

So, 2.1kw for about $300 lncluding the switches, cable, fittings and two nice working solar inverters, which I,ll maybe use at a later time. At present ,my thoughts are to use them in strings to supply 50 volts and charge my battery Banks. But,that could change .

Very nice price for the lot.

How did you find such a bargain?

Hi George,

years back ,couple, I looked around eBay and saw that installers were offloading some removals that they had been doing ,rather than just scrapping them .

I called one guy close ,about 10 k,s away ,and he kept some for me . he was in a big way ,in installing ,had a couple huge sheds and trucks, heaps of stuff . he never got many of the heavy transformer type inverters ,reckons they are all the lightweight junk nowadays.

Anyhow , I've set mine up ,like new, and will eventually get around to powering the battery bank til one day policy changes and I can legally switch them over to on grid.

Nice place ,where I have put them ,because they shade the kitchen from the hot western sun in summer .

Pity about the Pythons and possums not being able to call the grape vine home ,but ,them the breaks!.
