after advice from members here about panel angles the 100 watt panel is on the roof and producing way more power then needed but im sure coming overcast days will knock it down to just enough to keep up with the small demands needed. power usage in the day are .1 of a amp for the radio and .25/.5 of an amp for a 2 speed fan and .6 of an amp for 4 led downlights which get reduced to .3 as chores/cooking gets finished and lights get turned off leaving plenty left in the 3x 12ah batteries [36ah] to run the fan .25a and dimmable led light .10a for sleeping.not bad for a less the $300 outlay including a new 10 amp morning star sun saver solar regulator i got cheap off gumtree $15. solar is quite alive in the philippines for those who cant get on the grid and those who want lights when theres repeated blackouts and panel sizes range from 30w to big 280 w units

Yes solar is reliable, practical and affordable, yet big business still wants to build more coal fired power station to make money from poor villagers.
There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

alot of really small country towns use diesel gen sets, their not big power uses like us and most dont own fridges as the power bill is too great for their small income.we are soooo lucky compared to most in the philippines, it does 1 good to visit other countries to appreiate what we have after all their petrol/diesel prices arnt any cheaper then what we pay at the pumps, same as rice and cooking gas which most use since you cant cook when the power goes off so often.

went to my girl friends house today as by the time the panel went on the roof the sun had set so i wanted to see it working and tweak the system if needed,by the time i got there at 4pm the batteries were fully charged and only taking in .3 of an amp so i decided to load the system up for a while then see what it could run and still maintain some charge into the batteries as it was getting towards days end again and there was still enough for the radio .1a and fan .5a so i was impressed by that and the panel choice i made and im sure the system will work fine for yrs to come.
