Hello.
I´m trying to get a system with a thin film panel (50V*1A) and a nimh-battery that should be charged with around 15V to work.
I wish to find a quite simple regulator, but now we are using a quite advanced mppt-regulator that can handle up to 60V. Unfortunally it seems to "missunderstand" the panels, I have 14V and 0,5A in from the panels in full sunlight (should be 50V*2A since I even have 2 panels in parallell).
It might also be that the regulator "thinks" that the battery is fully charged, the voltage on that side was at the same time around 13,3V.

I might try to buid one using a DC/DC converter with floating input voltage (18-75V) and fixed output at 15V, but I´m not sure it will not have similar problems.

Anyhow, I would very much appriciate suggestions and ideas from you guys with vast experience!

What is the open circuit voltage of each panel in full sunlight?
What is the short circuit current of each panel in full sunlight?

I guess you mean actual performance (measured by me) and not stated by the manufacturer?
Its not possible for me to acces the panels for quite some time, but I might be able to have someone else measuring them.
Do you think the fault might be in the panels?
If I arrange a trip to the site to take some measurements, what kind of factors might be interresting?
Should i also check the current when "short circuited" via a power resistor, for example 100 ohm, and different voltages at different loads, or would that not be of any use?
I might get a hold of a set to play around with at my summer cottage, then I will have plenty of time to investigate the system.
At the time I dont have much information regarding the panels, most of what I know is in the first message. And that they are a-Si.
