Geez, the sun has got some zip to it! I got home from a job this morning and thought " Have a shower and get some of the crud off" Turned the cold tap on and waited about 4 minutes till it got cold enough to get under it..... AT 10.30 in the morning! The water is heating up because I have had to make a temporary repair to my water supply, so at the moment there is 30 metres of 1" poly pipe exposed, laying on the ground. The air temp outside is 24.5 C and a bit of wispy cloud. Time for a high tech experiment. sophisticated equipment - plastic bread bag - black cardboard - small sticks - one small rock (possibly granite with ironstone inclusions) I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not... |

That reminds me of my place in Mackay. The underground pipe had been damaged by a excavator, somewhere along its 100m length. I couldn't find the leak, so instead of digging in a new pipe, I decided to run the pipe across the ground. My thinking was if something damaged it, I can at least find the leak quickly and make a repair. It all worked fine for a week, until I needed to have a shower during the middle of the day, as I had to attend a wedding that afternoon. The cold water was too hot to stand under! I remember I had to run the water for about 15 minutes before it was bearable. After a few months enough grass had grown over the pipe to keep it cool. Almost case for tank holding cold water to mix with hot water from plastic pipe exposed to the Sun. But this would require 3-rd tap for that. George |

It is the loaf of bread particles that made it happen. Each game is detailed with cost, ---- gw2 key Cheap RS Gold |

A dear old auntie of mine worked in a city office building where the copper hot and cold pipes ran up the side of the building on a northern aspect. The hot water system was inside the building, which was air conditioned. In summer, the cold water became intolerably hot, so the simple answer was to turn off the hot water system and let it act as a cooler. All that was then necessary was to judge the time to transpose the function of the hot and cold taps. Don B |

That's an old trick. Many years ago I was approached by one of those NGOs and asked how they could provide cheap low-tech hot water to villages in Africa or somewhere. "A roll of poly pipe" was my answer. Here's the HWS at the Barn Hill campground (south of Broome). Works a treat albeit not well regulated. _____ Rob Rob Gray, AKA the Graynomad, www.robgray.com |

It is surprising just how much water the coils of poly hold and for that matter, how quickly they heat up. Even here in the south east SA we have our poly water pipes running around the fence lines as it is too rocky to dig 600 or so metres of trench for the pipe and we have to let the water run quite a while before we can water the seedling trees etc. david m David M. |
