Was reading some online news articles when this one caught my eye. It will never happen but it does seem interesting.
Magnetic light, go figure.

Crew

I think this is the research Click Here. I have forwarded this link to my son, who is a PhD Aeronautical Engineer for him to watch. I asked him to take a look at the research and tell me what he thinks. As soon as he gets back to me, I'll post what he says.

It sounds feasible to me, but then so do hover boards!

Edit: Almost forgot to thank Gizmo for fixing the broken link; Thanks!

Hi Grub,
Its an interesting Idea.
"Magnetic light, go figure."

Some Thoughts about Light.

The Sun, The Moon, Lightning, Candle, The Firefly/Glow worm and Foxfire. The sources are different,ie, Nuclear, Reflective, Friction, Thermal, and chemical.
The LED is Electro-chemical, may be a close relationship to the Firefly.

The Sun ,Bright and powerful, accompanied by sensible heat. The Moon Reflected light,
Atmospheric Friction generating huge electrostatic charges that equalize in a flash of high intensity light. sometimes a violet glow can be seen shortly before the flash, This is Ionization.
The Light emitting Diode Was created to do this very efficiently, Nearly cold.
The candle of course is Chemical thermal.

So The Glow worm, Firefly, and (Foxfire/Phosphorus) are a cold chemical formula that does produce Light!
Admittedly Not Much.

Radio Transmitters can light a Florescent Light Bulb/Globe If nearby.
So in a sense Magnetic waves can produce Light, The Tesla Coil is another example. There could be a simplified way to do this with much less power But I won't Hold my Breath.

Cheers----Roe
