I have'nt as yet got a F&P, however I picked up a DC motor the other day. The make is Fortress Scientific, 24volts, 15amps, 172rpm through a gearbox. I think i've stuffed up, I machined away the gearbox part, and have worked out the rpm is in the region of 3243rpm, now theres no way the wind will spin it at that speed, just a quick spin with the fingers, light up a 6volt bulb, and a 2800rpm electric drill attached produces 19volts with a multimeter. Any information would be appreciated. jasmine |

Hi Jasmine Yeah sounds like you stuffed it up. 
But dont worry, we've all done that at one time or another. Without the gearbox its only usefull as a motor, put it in the spare parts bin and it will get used for something one day. I have a few 24v Scoota motors that are not any good for windmills, but I'm thinking I might make a fan. I have a burned out 240v floor fan ( like a pedistal or desk fan, but sits on the floor ), so I plan to replace the 240v motor with one of the 24v scoota motors and use it as a 24v fan for the workshop.
